Background
Husainat is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying). She completed her undergraduate degree in Neuroscience and Mental Health with a minor in Psychology at Carleton University, and her master’s degree in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. Over the years, she has been involved in activism and advocacy to break the stigma surrounding mental health, increase mental health awareness, improve education about mental health, and address the need for accessibility to mental health services for racialized communities and all communities. She has experience as a peer support worker, providing support and crisis interventions in various settings and communities, and delivering mental health workshops focused on mental health literacy and anti-oppression. In addition, she has clinical experience working with a wide range of clients presenting issues. Her experience informs her individualized and integrative approach to supporting all her clients.
